100 Day

The 100th day of school is one of the most hectic and fun days of the year. We started off our morning writing "I could eat 100 ________" and reading Miss Bindergarten celebrates the 100th day of Kindergarten. At group time we made a book that counts by 5's to 100 with each child cutting out and gluing 5 stars onto a piece of black paper. (This was our independent center.) With our parent helper we made 100 day hats with 10 strips for the crown each with 10 stamps on them. They are one of my favorites hats of the year! .With the teacher's aid we completed our 100 fruit loop necklaces. It was extremely difficult for many of the students to refrain from eating them during class time. At my table we made pictures of our 100 year old selves. I love how the boys get to decide if they will be bald or have moustaches or beards. When I mention it, you can tell that it is the first time many of them have considered that fact that they may look like this when they grow up! After lunch each child got to share the collection of 100 items they brought from home Then for math we made a snack with 10 of each of these items: goldfish, chex cereal, cheerios, pretzels, raisins, mini marshmallows, colored mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, M&M's, and oyster crackers. Each year I change the ingredients a little depending on what students bring in.

After we ate our snack we went out for P.E. About 10 minutes before the end, I threw 100 balloons up in the air for them to play with. It was the perfect way to end a great day!
